Wind Breaker Season 1 Review: Better Version of Tokyo Revengers!

What is Wind Breaker about?

Wind Breaker was one of the most anticipated anime series of 2024 after its trailer release, the Wind Breaker Season 1 anime aired on April 5 2024. The delinquent genre in the anime world has always been an interesting one, there are tons of series that tried their luck but only some get the whiff of it! One of them is Tokyo Revengers, which started off really well but then the graph was lower than Osama bin laden’s body in the ocean.

Wind Breaker is an anime series with delinquent adventures, the MC Sakura is a brat who doesn’t like to follow the crowd. Sakura’s goal is to keep getting stronger and eventually become the strongest.

Soon he finds a group of people that match his crazy ideologies, then he embarks on a journey of gang wars with them. The group Sakura joins is called ‘Bofurin’, it is stuffed with some of the strongest characters in the series. Bofurin is happy to have a strong member like Sakura Haruka.

One day sakura gets into a brawl with one of the members of Shishitoren’s Togame, he is the second in command in the enemy gang. The leader of Shishitoren then declares a war between the gangs, this will decide who will rule on the given turf! Bofurin enters an abandoned auditorium where the members of the enemy gangs are waiting for them! The fights start and we see these powerful characters going at each other, the direction and animation of the fights give us a rush. By the end of the gang war which Bofurin won, we see Sakura getting promoted to first-year grade captain.

Wind Breaker Season 1 Review

Like most of the otakus we thought that Wind Breaker Season 1 would be another rip-off version of Tokyo Revengers, and we weren’t completely wrong as the theme and some of the characters are just copies of each other. But Unlike Tokyo Revengers, this anime keeps you hooked and makes you open up the illegal manga sites and read the story ahead. You can say that it’s a better version of Tokyo Revengers and one of the best delinquent anime series in recent years. If you are a weeb who loves action anime then this one is definitely for you, each episode you see these brats throwing roundhouse kicks, punches, and baseball bats to their opponent’s face.

The MC Sakura Haruka has half white-half black hair and heterochromia eyes. He has been bullied his whole life for his different look, but this is what pulls him out of the crowd. Because of the bullying he faces, Sakura started throwing hands at a young age, and this lead to the adrenaline rush he craves during such battles. That’s why he joined Bofurin, the group that protects the town from other gangs. Social Media played a huge role in Wind Breaker’s popularity, the weebs had the Reels of Sakura popping on the gram. They were obsessed with how he looked and fought, we know the golden rule is to have an MC who is loved by the masses. This is the secret ingredient for a successful anime series.

Wind Breaker is a paradise anime for a meathead, within the first 6 episodes the first battle arc starts. This anime has a lot of potential to grow as the Wind Breaker Season 1 had an amazing response from the fans. Cloverworks has done a marvelous job in animating this anime series, the action is flair and beautiful. The characters are overused and selected from a box which every delinquent anime chooses from! You won’t find much uniqueness in the designs, the same typical, Strong Bear, Shy One, Smart One, Prodigy, Little but Strongest, etc.

If you’re in search of a Shonen Anime with fights, then this one is waiting for you. You won’t be disappointed but after the 7th episode, the plot gets a bit hazy. The fight sequences are top notch, but the animation studio needs to find a better direction for the Wind Breaker Season 2. We would rate the anime a 8/10 for a first season, hopefully, we will get another season that fixes the potholes and fixes the pace of the series.

Where to watch Wind Breaker Season 1?

Wind Breaker Season 1 is a top 5 Spring Anime of 2024, and as an otaku you should give it a chance. Watch this amazing anime series in high quality on Crunchyroll, Netflix, or Amazon Prime

You’re going to need to get a subscription to watch the Wind Breaker Season 1 without any interruption, this delinquent anime is worth the subscription fee! If you are lower on the money end then you need to open Google and do your own research, get in that Detective Conan Mode.

When will Wind Breaker Season 2 be released?

Hakura looking stern

At the end of Wind Breaker Season 1 we see new characters being introduced to us, Bofurin enters the Senkan Shipyard where they will encounter the ‘KEEL’ Gang! The audience is left on a hook at the end of the season, we wonder what kind of fights we will witness between the members of Bourfin and Keel. Sakura’s character will be shown in more depth in the second season, we will also see him going against his own members. These brats are hotheaded and Sakura is the worst of the lot. The only time he is taken aback is when he receives compliments!

Hopefully, Cloverworks Studio will learn from its mistakes and make the Wind Breaker Season 2 greater!

On the 28th of June 2024, Cloverworks along with Crunchyroll announced that they will return with Wind Breaker Season 2 sometime late in 2025! This announcement sent the otakus into a frenzy, they were happy that Wind Breaker will return with another season of Fights!
